Galaxy Note and Words With Friends Review

I would definitely say that my love of phones derived from my sister’s obsession. If she doesn’t have it then more than likely nobody else does. She’s like the go to person for breaking news on the latest in phone releases. For quite some time now she has been eying the Galaxy Note by AT&T.

I for one wouldn’t compare this to your average smartphone. Its big enough to replace a PDA for Christ’s sake, if people still use those nowadays. The only thing that’s missing is the jumbo stylus. Aside from my ridicule I’m sure if it’s good enough for her then there are tons of other potential buyers for this phone.

Let’s check some specs shall we. Now even phonearena.com agrees with me on the bulkiness of it, but on the plus side it’s the only noted con. The Galaxy Note has a 5.3 inch display, which means more LCD for the visually impaired like me. I wonder if that’s why she’s going for it (fyi her bifocals are slightly thicker than mine). One thing I love about AT&T is their 4G network. While T-Mobile claims to have to highest speeds, AT&T has no need to brag about what they can do.

This phone is in the heaviest grade of phones, weighing in at almost 6.3 ounces. One of the biggest advantages is the talk time, 26 hours. With the stand-by time at 40 days, you won’t have to charge your phone for weeks with light use. The Note has the highest quality camera, at 8 megapixels. You haven’t heard the best part yet. It’s a 16 gigabyte phone. You don’t see those too often, but if it’s Samsung they normally have this storage capacity. While the phone may be a nice size for a paper weight, it definitely over compensates for tipping the scales.

One app that I have been playing like forever is  Zynga’s Words With Friends, our app of the week. This game resembles Scrabble in a way but the awesome thing about it is its Scrabble on steroids. The object of the game is to place words strategically to get the most points. You can play against friends on Facebook, Twitter, and via email invites. Of course I always win.
