What I love about the Samsung Exhibit 4g II is the compactness. It only weighs 4 ounces , which makes it fairly easy to slide into your pocket, place in the cup holder of your car, or even sleek enough to sit in your lap to sneak in a few texts during class, being a slender .45 inches thick.

The Samsung Exhibit 4g II is the ideal design of your typical Droid phone without tipping the scales. While the title is a mouthful, it’s self-explanatory that this phone is 4g capable, meaning higher internet speeds, and it is the second in its line. The difference between the Exhibit 4g II and its predecessor is design. The first Exhibit has a flat bottom and a rounded top, while the Exhibit 4g II design has the opposite aesthetics in mind. There is also a touch sensitive scroll button on the first Exhibit that did not make the cut in the next generation of the Exhibit series.

With the newer generations of Droids (trademark nickname for Android), there came the creation of a second camera facing the user, which is called “face time.” You can download apps like Skype or Tango to video chat with friends and family, or if you’re in love with the camera, you can take pictures hassle free, without having to stand in a mirror. Isn’t that awesome?

The internal memory is 4 gigabytes, which is the standard memory of all Droids, and more than enough memory for app downloads and phone updates in addition to extra storage space with an SD memory card.

Overall the performance of the Exhibit 4g II is outstanding! What more could you want in a phone with 4g capabilities, dual cameras, and a light weight build? I forgot to mention I currently own this phone, so my perception may be a bit biased, but it was literally been love at first sight.

The app of the week is Sims Freeplay, released February 15 of this month. This life simulation will send you on a whirl wind, being able get into any mishap that you would think of doing in actuality. New customizable features and real time gaming permits users to experience the Sims at an insurmountable level of life simulation compared to reality.

With the anticipated release of the Sims Free Play app on the Android Market this month, fans are ecstatic about testing out the new gaming interface.

The Sims has evolved with time, reaching millions in its fan base. The Sims series is based on a simulation of life. In some sequels the gamer can play as a pet, while in others they start off at birth and literally live life through a video game until their character dies.

It’s the human connection that makes Sims so popular with gamers. As in life, daily interactions with other Sims players mean dealing with love and the fluctuating moods of friends and family day to day.

The Sims debuted in February 2000 on PC and has since then grown exponentially, being available on every major gaming console and portable device from the Playstation 3 to the Ipad. The love of Sims from generation to generation of releasing newer versions of the game is why Sims has literally gone universal.  With the Sims Free Play app at the tip of ones fingertips, not only will users be able to play at home, but they can play while commuting, at leisure, or at any moment in-between.

What makes this app different from the others in the series is explained its title: “Sims Free Play.” In other words the app is completely free to download and play.  While all previous releases cost fans to download, this one is free to all Android and iOS (Iphone) users.  With a fan base of 127,000 on Twitter and nearly 500,000 downloads to date, Sims Free Play is projected to top its sales from its last release.

Though the date is not exact, Sims Free Play is expected to release sometime this month. What makes Sims Free Play different from any other game in its franchise is the ability to play in real time with live updates, which enables users to keep up with their Sims characters throughout the day while following their time zone. For example if its 3pm central in the time zone the gamer is playing it, it will be the precise time of that calendar day in the video game.

In addition, more features for customizing the Sims world and unlockable content have also been thrown in the mix for a more realistic gaming experience. Gamers will be able to play with every aspect of life, whether it is a daredevil attempt that nearly leaves your Sim’s character lifeless or finding true love and getting hitched.

LG Doubleplay Review and Temple Run App

The LG Doubleplay packs a secondary 2

One of the coolest phones on the market is the LG Doubleplay, with a dual screen and a split keyboard interface. Its unique design may be a great innovation, but prove problematic for both new and avid texters. Instead of a standard QWERTY UIOP keyboard, it splits between the “t” and “y” keys, making way for a 2-inch LCD touch display on the keying panel. The standard way of typing on a full keypad versus this platform takes a bit of adapting, after just a few minutes of testing the phone out.

If you’re looking for a phone with a ton of memory this could be the phone for you, flaunting an internal memory of 16.3 gigabytes, four times the average internal memory of any (4 gigabyte) cellphone. In addition, this phone has a 5 megapixel camera, 512 megabytes of RAM, and a main screen at 3.5 inches.

This phone is a bit on the heftier side, weighing 6.3 ounces. Besides the weight, I would have to say that I absolutely love the  phone, but based on the reviews there are quite a few technicalities that need tending, such as a lack of battery life (a common problem with most Androids), and a few minor screen glitches. I would still purchase this phone, but I would not recommend this handset for first time Android users.

The app of the week is Temple Run, which was supposed to release today, February 12, 2012, on the Android Market, according to a tweet from the official Twitter fan page of Temple Run, but has been delayed until later this month. This fast paced action thriller will definitely keep you playing for hours. The object of the game is to escape the temple after stealing jewels from the cursed grounds of an ancient Mayan temple. That’s where the fun begins. You have to escape monkeys by avoiding obstacles like fire, tree trunks, and swift turns of paths. Can you keep up?
